THINGS TO DO IN JUPITER – Outfitting Essentials

Loxahatchee River

DRY BAG

Towels, sunscreen, extra clothing, safety equipment like a whistle and first aid kit, energy bars, bottled water — keep them all safe and ready for use in a dry bag during your trip.

And one more thing. Don’t take a chance bringing your car keys.

Jupiter Outdoor Center guides will gladly keep them in safe storage while you paddle.

WATER-PROOF PHONE CASE

Sleek and light cases made made of a shock-absorbent material (like silicone or rubber) are best.

Most phone cases come in a pretty universal size. Some you can hang around your neck. Others are floatable, handy if you accidentally drop your phone in the river.

HAT.

Sure, there’s lots of shade under those towering cypress trees. But the sunny spots get real steamy real fast. Go for a hat with a wide brim stiff enough withstand a blustery breeze without flipping up. Vents on the side help keep your head cool.

RESERVE YOUR KAYAK OR CANOE EARLY AT JOC

While walkups are welcome, reserving your kayak or canoe guarantees your watercraft will be ready when you arrive for your adventure.

And don’t forget to fill out your waiver online before you arrive at Riverbend Park.

That will get you out on the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River even quicker.

RELAX AT MAGIC BOWLS BEFORE AND/OR AFTER YOUR TRIP

Coffee, juice or healthy Acia Bowls are among the snacks available at the Magic Bowls food truck, just steps away from the launch point on the Loxahatchee River.

Kick back on the picnic tables under the shady trees and check out the wildlife and activities at Riverbend Park.

The more you look the more you see!
