Vitamin D is gasoline for our bodies.

The pump is right up there in the sky.

Without sufficient vitamin D, bones don’t form properly. We need vitamin D to absorb calcium. Vitamin D reduces blood cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. It boosts our immune system. Vitamin D revs our brains.

In fact, most cases of vitamin D deficiency are due to lack of outdoor sun exposure.

EXERCISE ALFRESCO – NATURE’S THERAPY

It’s a natural antidepressant. Outdoor exercise produces endorphins, a feel-good hormone that boosts your mood and reduces pain.

Challenge your body. Find an exercise you love. Do it in the ever-changing outdoors.

Turn exercise into a social outing. Involve family and friends. Instead of lunch or TV after dinner, go for a walk.

It’s free. All you need to get a fantastic workout is a safe, well-lit park, track, neighborhood or walking trail. No gym membership required.

Walk, run, bicycle, paddle – get outside and move!

Aim for 30 minutes of exercise a day, five days a week. Can’t get in 30 minutes at once? Two 15-minute or three 10-minute chunks will do.

And back off that blue/green light like the glow from your phone or computer screen – especially at night.

And get this – physical activity works better than prescription sleep meds.

Before your stress reaches a boiling point, unplug from all your devices.

Exercising outside regularly washes away stress. Getting out there with the sun, the pelicans and the water boosts blood flow. Your immune cells get immuning faster.

That makes fighting of viruses easier. And if you do get sick, you’ll bet better quicker.
