Hidden Florida: Guided Kayak Tour on the Wild & Scenic Loxahatchee River
Journey into one of Florida’s last truly wild places—with the only authorized outfitter on the Lower Loxahatchee!
Paddle through a living postcard of Old Florida on the Wild & Scenic Loxahatchee River, one of only two rivers in Florida designated by the National Wild & Scenic River System. This guided 2-hour kayak tour begins at Riverbend Park and flows downstream through a breathtaking cypress canopy, where ancient trees and rich biodiversity offer an unforgettable experience.
Jupiter Outdoor Center is the only outfitter authorized to conduct guided commercial tours on this protected section of the Loxahatchee River, making this a truly unique and exclusive way to experience this hidden gem. With decades of experience, our expert guides bring the river’s ecology, history, and wildlife to life in a safe and enriching way.
Much of the paddle takes place under a shaded canopy of cypress and hardwood trees. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles, herons, otters, ibis, manatees, and the occasional alligator. Water levels and currents vary seasonally, and portage may be required during lower conditions—adding a light sense of adventure.

Paddling the Loxahatchee River is like stepping into a hidden world—quiet, wild, and untouched by time. As one of only two federally designated Wild & Scenic Rivers in Florida, this stretch of water is a rare gem. Towering cypress trees, overhanging ferns, and winding waterways create an atmosphere that feels worlds away from everyday life.
What makes this tour truly special is the chance to slow down and reconnect—with nature, with your group, or even just with yourself. It’s peaceful, yet full of quiet surprises: the call of a hawk overhead, a turtle sunning on a log, or the flicker of fish just beneath your kayak. The experience is both grounding and awe-inspiring.
Our guides are more than just route leaders—they’re passionate about what they do and love sharing the river’s unique ecology and history in a way that brings it to life. Even those who’ve lived in Florida for years often say this tour showed them a side of their home they never knew existed.
