Jupiter Outdoor Center invites you to enjoy the nurturing power of nature!  Since 1997, we have been sharing our love of the Jupiter Inlet Aquatic Preserve with thousands of visitors and locals….we hope that you will enjoy our new website, make your reservations, and then turn off the computer & GET OUT!

Rick Clegg founded JOC with a deep commitment to providing quality outdoor adventures in this exquisite and shimmering place we call home.  Inspired by the adventures and natural playground of Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), he opened JOC as a simple place to rent kayaks & bikes, forge a community of outdoor enthusiasts, and educate youth on the power of nature. Over the years, JOC has ebbed and flowed like the  river…the kayak café, surviving hurricanes, the rise of Guanabanas, dozens of devoted & sizzling staff members coming and going and then coming back again, small business challenges, small town politics…but nothing at its core has ever changed. Rick continues to share his passion for the outdoors & his love of Jupiter, while juggling his Real Estate and Property Management companies.  The slender slice of land he purchased in 1997 has seen years of drama, transformation, construction, destruction, characters that are as free-spirited and wild as the summer storms…Guanabanas Restaurant has evolved from one original  owner [Rick] to a dozen, while Jupiter Outdoor Center remains where it always has been.  On the sparkling shore of the Jupiter River, the perfect spot to set out on paddling adventures.  JOC is here for you.  A place to launch a kayak, try Stand Up Paddleboarding, enjoy a guided sunset tour, send your kids to camp, find peace and joy in nature.

We are located at 1000 Coastal Highway A1A, at Guanabanas..  Heading east on Indiantown Road all the way to the ocean, take a left and head north on Coastal A1A.  Travel about 1 mile (if you are back to US 1, you have gone too far)…park on the corner of Love Street & A1A and then walk across A1A to the west side of the road & enter the valet loop at Guanabanas. Our Tiki Hut is tucked away on the north side of the restaurant property, right on the Jupiter River.  Call us at 561-747-0063 for reservations!

The Staff:

Cynthia Trone, Tiki Manager, is happy to have her feet in the sand and her Mermaid Paddleboard waiting for her at work.  Having lived in Maine and Vermont for 20 years, the warmth and tropical surroundings are a treasured paradise.  She is glad to arrange group outings, birthday parties, tours, paddle clinics…or share the best trip plan for today.  A great part of JOC is always including all generations in all of our activities…

Cynthia’s kids are often at JOC:
Jackson is the JOC dock manager, videographer, lifeguard, surf instructor, camp counselor and tour guide.  Once he goes to UNF in the fall, his sister Kayla will step up as SUP instructor and assistant tiki girl…and Hadley Rose is our camper extraordinaire, chalkboard designer and headlamp collector!
Denver Mayo - We are happy to have Denver back!  He was with us in his teenage years, and now shares his pure and natural connection with nature with our visitors.  His creativity is evident in our marketing, and he is a positive force in the Jupiter art scene, organizing and creating Big Collective and 1st Friday Art Happening at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts.  A fourth generation Jupiter local, he has fascinating local historical  knowledge & stories to share

Jackson came to JOC with lifelong love of the water...born in Maine, and raised on the shores of Lake Champlain in Vermont, he arrived at the age of 13 in Jupiter FL.  He was ripe for a tropical lifestyle of surfing, skimming and skateboarding.  He is a tenor sax player, and a talented filmmaker. He is a certified Lifeguard, and manages the equipment and rentals at JOC with ease.

Rachel Murrell - Our 2009 Camp Director returned to JOC after enjoying her late teens with the camp back in the day when the rope swing was on our dock!  She earned her degree at UNF, and shares her environmental passion and knowledge with ease.  She is a certified diver, and has spent time with the Perry Marine Institute…

Dave Morris - Our resident firefighter and Stand Up Paddleboard designer, Dave is our safety expert and true waterman.  His love of outdoor adventures is always growing and shifting…from surfing and kayaking to Stand Up Paddleboarding and mountain biking.  We are happy to have his custom designed Morrisup boards in stock for you to try out!
Krista Metzger - Sundays at the Tiki with Krista!  She brings her surfer girl charm and positive attitude to JOC.  Handling a high level real job all week, she is ready to get people in the water on Sunday!  With her surfing experience, she is a great teacher on the Stand Up Paddleboard!
Matt Lane - We just welcomed Matt to our JOC family this winter.  He is a true waterman, coming to us from Hatteras & Virginia Beach.  Kiteboarding and surfing, kayaking and paddleboarding…he excels at them all, and is ready to guide your trip or provide expert instruction.
