JUPITER, FL—The Jupiter Outdoor Center, 1116 Love Street, Jupiter, FL 33477, will be hosting 10 weeks of their Summer Adventure Camp this summer from June 9 – August 15. Kids ages 6 – 14 will enjoy what all adults wish they were doing this Summer…not working and spending their days kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, fishing, diving, surfing, skim boarding, and traversing the amazing waterways of Jupiter. Kids will also enjoy environmental education programs directed by the educators from the River Center throughout the week.
The Jupiter Outdoor Center has been operating their summer camp program since 1998 and have helped save thousands of kids from “Nature Deficit Disorder”, as the JOC coins their effort to keep kids away from the glow of television screens and computer monitors ad get them out and exploring nature.
Last summer the Jupiter Outdoor Center received accreditation for its youth camp program from the American Camp Association. Not an easy endeavor, but a feather in the camp’s cap demonstrating the JOC’s commitment to child safety and program excellence.
“Being the only accredited aquatic camp in the area not only assures parents that JOC has met the rigorous standards of The American Camp Association but also marks a significant milestone in JOC ‘s 16 year history of providing local youth with the best paddle camp experience.” According to Rick Clegg, JOC Founder and CEO “Chief Executive Outdoorsman”
About the American Camp Association: The American Camp Association is a community of camp professionals and is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults through the camp experience. ACA has 50 years of experience in developing and administering a standards program. The purpose of the Accreditation Program is to educate camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff. To learn more about the accreditation process visit www.acacamps.org.
The Jupiter Outdoor Center will provide staff to camper ratios that are appropriate for different age groups, goals for camp activities that are developmentally based, and first-aid, lifeguard, and CPR/AED trained staff available when campers are present.
“Not all camps operate out of an abundance of caution, so be sure to ask the right questions when enrolling your kids in a summer camp program. Ask about staff to camper ratios, staff training or experience, what an average day at camp is like, and really anything else you would ask someone taking the lives of your children into their hands. Safety and fun can go hand in hand, and should.” Commented Ryan Sullivan, JOC Director of Operations
